Verse:
e---------2---------2-------
B-----------2---------3-----
G-------3---------4---------
D-----4---------4-----------
A---4---------2-------------
E-2-------------------------

Chorus:
e-----------------------------------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------------------------------
G-----------------------------------------------------------------
D-7-7-7-7-7-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-3-3-3-3-7-7-7-7-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-
A-7-7-7-7-7-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-3-3-3-3-7-7-7-7-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-
E-5-5-5-5-5-0-0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-5-5-5-7-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-

Solo:
e--------------------------2-------------------------------------------
B----------------------2-5---2-2-2-------------------------------------
G------------------2-4-------------4-4-4-2-2-2-----5t6-1-1-2-1-1-1-----
D--------------2-4-----------------------------6-4-----------------4-2-
A----------2-4---------------------------------------------------------
E-102-2-5-------------------------------------------------------------

e-------------
B-------------
G-------------
D-----------4-
A-4-2-------4-
E-----5-2-0-2-

The solo at the end is slightly different. Its all based on petonics so
if you play this one twice instead, it will still sound great.

Effect:

I'm not sure this is even a guitar, it sounds like maybe it is with some

crazy studio effects or pedals. It sounds good if you just make some
feedback
instead. Just let this ring after the chorus near the end before the
last solo.

e-2~-

Lyrics:

they made up their minds
and they started packing
they left before the sun came up that day

an exit to eternal summers lacking
but where were they going without ever knowing the way

(guitar enters)

they drank up the wine
and they got to talking
but there were more important things to say

and when the car broke down
they started walking
where were they going without ever knowing the way

anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
its always summer they'll never get cold
never get hungry
never get old and gray
you can see the shadows wandering off somewhere
won't make it home but the really don't care
they wanted the highway they're happier there, today, today.

the children woke up and they couldn't find them
they left before the sun came up that day
they just drove off and left it all behind them
                                          (left if all behind)

but where were they going without ever knowing the way.

anyone can see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
its always summer they'll never get cold
never get hungry
never get old and gray
you can see the shadows wandering off somewhere
won't make it home but the really don't care
they wanted the highway they're happier there, today, today.

[solo]
